The Ultimate Grilled Cheese

This sandwich. OH this sandwich. You haven’t had a grilled cheese until you’ve had this grilled cheese. Actually, you haven’t LIVED until you’ve had this grilled cheese. It’s breakfast, lunch or dinner, and I may or may not have eaten two of these in one day for two separate meals (I did, so shoot me!). It’s that good.

The Ultimate Grilled Cheese

Ingredients:

  • The bread of your choice - sliced sandwich bread, a chunk of baguette, a roll, pita, etc.
  • Mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 1/2 tomato, sliced
  • 1 egg, sunny side up

Cook an egg sunny side up, seasoning with salt and pepper - feel free to leave it a little runny but not TOO runny, that will just make a mess. In the meantime, pull out your sandwich presser, panini presser or another clean pan. Start building your sandwich by spreading a little butter on the inside of the sandwich. Place a slice of mozzarella cheese, tomato and a pinch of salt, the egg (once cooked) another slice of mozzarella cheese and the second piece of bread. If you’re using a panini or sandwich presser, you know the drill.

If you’re using a pan, I’d press the sandwich down (on medium heat) with something heavy, a small pot with a can of beans inside. Get creative. Flip the sandwich over after 3 minutes and crisp up the other side. Then get ready to die and go to heaven, seriously.
